Does Rufo quote that’s his use of a historic bloc, or where did that reference in that context come from?

It’s Gramsci’s term.

Thanks for the reply, yes but I mean the reference to the “conservative” historic bloc… where did that come from?

“He targets schools and bureaucracies to dismantle progressive ideologies, forming a conservative “historic bloc” of activists, parents, and media to establish a counter-hegemony.”

I’ve written two much longer articles on this subject that may add clarity. This was really just an explainer to help those unfamiliar with the terms.

He wants to create a counter “historic bloc” for “conservative” ends. I put it in quotes because I don’t see using Marxists tactics for short term operational success as truly conservative.

Ah gotcha - I was trying to pull out if he referred to what he was doing as a historic bloc or if you did. I wasn’t sure if I’d call it a historic bloc and wondered your thoughts on attributing it that way, I hadn’t thought of it in that context…. This is happening, coalitions to go against policies and ideologies within institutions

Ah ok I understand your question more clearly now. I haven’t seen him specifically use the term but I think it is accurate and he has explicitly stated he’s using Gramsci, Frankfurt School and Alinsky tactics so it makes sense.
